TRIAD TOASTMASTERS HISTORY
The Triad Toastmasters Club #3132 was chartered in April 1, 1996 as a corporate club for employees only at Ciba (now Syngenta). The club was originally named Toastmeisters to identify it with the parent company located in Basel, Switzerland. Dean Stults, an HR Representative, approached management about forming the club, and served as the club's first President.

The charter presentation was held on July 31, 1996. The club's banner, podium and gavel were officially presented to the President of the club by Larry Brown, past District 37 Toastmasters Governor--the highest ranking Toastmaster official in the State. Larry also served as the club's sponsor/mentor.

Shortly after the club formed in 1996, Ciba merged with Sandoz to form Novartis. The executive committee and company management decided to open the club to any interested persons.

In 2000, Novartis merged with AstraZeneca to form Syngenta. The club voted to change its name to the Triad Toastmasters because it best represented the demographics of its members. The Triad club has attracted professionals from all walks of life, and with strong leadership and commitment from its members has become a premiere Toastmasters club.

The club serves as a model for excellence in leadership and communication skills. Members have won contests at all levels of competition, from the club to District (State of NC) level. Members have also served in every official capacity up to the District level. The club has had three Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM), the highest level a Toastmaster can achieve, with several more on the brink of obtaining this prestigious honor.

Triad Toastmasters has also achieved the highest honor for any Toastmasters club—President's Distinguished Club—every year since 2000. This award is given for achieving leadership and communication goals set by Toastmasters International.
